WEST DURHAM AMAL GENERAL CHAMPION 2022 - From approx 330 members, This award is for the loft with the best average velocity out of all the NATIONALS, 9 in total which consist of 8 old birds and 1 with youngsters , this being with 5 trained hens as the majority of his team were 500 to 600 milers!

Open to all 4 organisations UNC, West Durham Amal, New North Amal, and Durham Combine. From Folkestone flying 255 miles and winning by 20 ypm flying 6hrs on the wing. 

Ian Stafford Performances over the Years

Winner of over 140 x 1st Federations/opens, 7 x 1st Nationals, 3 x 1st North of England Homing Union futurity race opens,4 x 2nd, 2 x 1st Lillers Open (open to all NEHU), also winning the Fred McCluskey Channel Average in the mighty Up North Combine 2 times in the last 3 years of Channel racing. In 2020, the last year of Channel racing Stafford and Wilson won 1st Up North Combine Gien, 500 miles on the day winning an UNC Gold Medal, the Hindhaugh Cup, the Le Puy Cup, the J W Towers trophy, the Brian Long Friendship Trophy, the McSween and Sexton Lanarkshire Social Circle Cup of Friendship, the McCluskey and Son UNC Channel Av Award, the F & I Watson Memorial Trophy, and the W B Napper Memorial Trophy. In 2022 Ian raced his first full season back at his old address in Stanley, Co Durham. However, he suffered a setback in March when his cancer flared up resulting in ongoing Chemotherapy which continues to affect his health badly. However, with the help of his wife he kept focused on the pigeons that resulted in him being General Champion of the whole West Durham Amalgamation (360 lofts) also winning the substitute Channel Average in both Club and Fed and an array of trophies from mainly the longer races. Ian only concentrated on racing 7 hens as most of his team were 500+ mile birds. Then in 2023 Ians cancer went far worse and he had to undergo a stem cell transplant that really felled him being in hospital in an isolation ward for nearly 1 month ,however when he got out 2 weeks into the season he started letting the birds out for the 1st time since September ,after a very slow start Ian eventually won 1st WEST DURHAM AMAL ARRASS,2ND WEST DURHAM AMAL ROYE and won the most coveted Shepherd trophy for most points in the WEST DURHAM AMAL channel average. 

JPS Lofts - The UK No 1 loft for Stefaan Lambrecht. We know of no other loft in the UK that has 7 direct children of the superstar “Lincia” , 6 full brothers/sisters to “Lincia” 7 half- brothers/sisters to “Lincia” and 4 children of “Venus” as well as brothers and sisters to her. JPS also purchased 2 full rounds from Stefaan in 2016 and 2017 prior to his sale on Pipa retaining only the very best from each round. We were also the principal buyers for the Stefaan Lambrecht birds sold in the Marcel Sangers clearance sale on Pipa Christmas 2021. JPS Lofts have at least 10 x 1st Nat winners reported in the last 2 seasons bred from at least 1 JPS Loft bred bird, in some cases 2., Stafford and Wilson Skinningrove are the top loft in East Cleveland Fed 2022 with old birds winning the Inland Av and OB Combined Av. 

In September this year Ian and Mark had an unbelievable performance from the NEHU Futurity 

Race open to the whole north of England flying from approx. 260 miles in a headwind. 

The partnership won:1st, 4th, 5th, 10th, 17th, 19th and 27th Open out of their 8 pigeons 

entered, winning the FUT for the 3rd time. In 2023 STAFFORD AND WILSON WERE 2ND 

8TH,11TH,AND 14TH OPEN WITH 4 OUT OF THEIR 5 ENTRIES giving them a total of 

3x1st 4x2nd in this prestigious race open to the whole north of ENGLAND , They were 

also premier prizewinners in the EAST CLEVELAND FEDERATION winning the 

Old Bird Average and Combined average ,In Skiningrove hs they were top prizewinners 

as well more than double the amount of points in front of the next man winning the inland 

average ,channel average and combined average as well.

Rab was one of the very best, knew him from I was in my teens. As I said all 5 we got from you have done the business but one cock especially has became the main man. He is a son of “Stefanie”. I have a photo of results won by his children, g children and gg children up until last year. Haven’t got this seasons results added on yet but there will be plenty of them including another combine win with a gg child which is remarkable for a cock that is only 6 year old.
