=====================================================================================================
During the latter part of 2016 I became quite interested in seeing if I could be successful in competing with the MNFC and other Classic organisations in races from over the Channel.
I already had 4 Janssen Van Loons which were producing good birds, and to these I added a further 3 - in essence these were the nucleus of my Stock team.
The progeny of these birds were to serve me well over the following years.
Commencing in 2019 at my first attempt with the MNFC I won 1st and 2nd Section, 1st and 5th Open from Fougeres with the Janssen Van Loons.
I joined the BICC and MCC for the 2022 season.
In 4 races with the BICC I won :
2nd Section 5th Open
1st Section 15th Open
2nd Section 16th Open
5th Section 26th Open
9th Section 43rd Open
10th Section 194th Open
3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Section, 136th, 138th, 168th, 193rd and 195th Open.
In 4 races with the MCC I won :
1st Section 1st Open
2nd Section 3rd Open
5th Section 7th Open
7th Section 12th Open
8th Section 8th Open
13th Section 16th Open
20th Section 34th Open
22nd Section 36th Open
31st Section 46th Open
Winner of the Old Bird Averages
All the above results were from Guernsey
The 2024 Season :
Runner Up Old and YB Worcester Federation Best Co-Efficient
Runner Up HGA Knight Worcester Federation (3 longest races)
3rd J Southall Trophy Worcester Federation (Combined Continental Averages)
7th J Lees Points Trophy Worcester Federation
14 x 1st, 11 x 2nd, 13 x 3rd Clubs
2 x 1st, 1 x 2nd, 2 x 3rd Federation
2 x 1st and 3 x 3rd Section Worcester Federation
1st Federation Guernsey 3 Bird Challenge
4 x 1st Worcester Federation 2 Bird Nomination (From 11 races)
4th Ace Pigeon SW Section MNFC Long Distance
These performances were achieved with a relatively small team, that as OB only ever received 1 x 9 miles training toss before racing started.
From then on they maintained fitness and race preparation by being loft flown and raced each week.
Furthermore, I've always found if a bird breeds winners it will continue to breed winners up to any age.
Last year I gave away 11P49543 who was the Sire of my MNFC winner.
I've just learned that in 2024 he's bred 2 different pigeons to win 1st Federation
Unfortunately, I now find myself in something of a dilemma.
Having been approached by the Local Authority and 2 local residents, and with enquiries now ongoing for more than 2 months there's a real possibility I may lose the land where the birds are kept.
If this possibility becomes reality, and if I'm to continue to race in some capacity then I will need to make some dramatic changes quickly.
I've therefore decided to try and get ahead of the game now.
With this in mind I reluctantly have made the decision to part with all of my Janssen Van Loon family that have served me so well.
