Excelsior Pigeon is delighted to host this outstanding draft of pigeons on behalf of the highly successful Mallaburn and Murphy partnership.

With a long history of racing success, this is a loft built on proven performance, exceptional bloodlines and the ability to breed winners generation after generation.

A Proven Record of Racing Success

Racing for over 20 years as Mallaburn Bros, the loft enjoyed considerable success, winning numerous club and Federation averages, topping the Section twice from France, and recording an impressive 4th and 10th Open UNC.

In 2021, the loft raced 14 Old Bird races, winning 13 of them, followed by an outstanding Young Bird season in which they won seven out of eight races.

The season's achievements included:

  • Runner-up Overall Averages.
  • Winner of the Federation Young Bird Averages.
  • Eight Federation wins.
  • Best Old Bird and Best Young Bird in the Federation.
  • An impressive 82 Federation positions.

In 2022, concentrating exclusively on Young Birds, the loft continued its remarkable form, winning the Federation Averages and recording two 1st Federation positions and 44 further Federation positions.

The season also produced a 1st Section and 10th Open UNC Young Bird National, alongside Best Young Bird in the Federation. Further success followed when racing with good friend John Mowbray Senior at Shilbottle, where the loft also secured Best Young Bird in the Federation.

A Remarkable 2023 Season

Racing as Mallaburn and Mowbray, the partnership enjoyed an exceptional season, recording:

  • 21 × 1st Club
  • 15 × 1st Federation
  • 166 Federation positions
  • Runner-up Best Loft in Section 1 over the water
  • Best Middle Distance Pigeon in the NEHU
  • Best Old Bird and Best Young Bird in the Federation
  • 34 UNC positions within the top 200 of the Combine

The crowning achievement was winning 1st Open UNC Young Bird National, a fantastic result that underlined the quality of the pigeons and the consistency of the loft.

Now back in their hometown of Alnwick with a new partner, the loft races as Mallaburn and Murphy, with the same ambition, dedication and winning mentality.

Bloodlines That Have Proven Their Worth

The pigeons offered in this draft represent a powerful mixture of Louis Cooreman, Herman Custer, Gaby Vandenabeele and Koopman bloodlines.

These families have produced numerous Club and Federation winners, Section winners and three North of England Combine winners, alongside 2nd, 3rd and 4th UNC positions in recent years.

Their success also extends to a 1st Midlands National winner and two Section winners from Scotland. These are versatile, winning families with results recorded across a wide geographical area.

The Original Louis Cooreman Pair – A Foundation of Winners

One of the original Louis Cooreman pairs proved its worth immediately, breeding an incredible 18 × 1st Club winners in its first season.

Among their offspring was the famous 12 hen, which won six races as a yearling before being transferred to the stock loft. She went on to become an exceptional breeder, producing 27 individual winners, including 11 × 1st Federation winners and four × 1st Section winners.

Her influence extends even further, with grandchildren and great-grandchildren winning at Section and Combine level.

From this original Cooreman pair, the partnership now has four generations of multiple winners, demonstrating the consistency and lasting value of this exceptional family.

Outstanding Descendants Still Winning

One particularly impressive daughter of the original family is 22CD614.

A four-time winner as a yearling, she has also recorded three 1st Federation positions and numerous further results up to Combine level.

Her breeding ability was demonstrated in 2026 when she produced a pigeon that achieved:

  • 1st Club.
  • 3rd Federation.
  • 4th Section.
  • 4th UNC from 10,600 birds.

Remarkably, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions were all won from the same yard.

Another outstanding descendant is 20CD2775, known as the Mallaburn Hen. She recorded five × 1st Club wins as a yearling, alongside two × 1st Federation positions, 2nd Section, 3rd Section and numerous further Federation, Section and UNC positions.

These are not simply attractive pedigrees on paper; they are families continuing to deliver results on the road.

Exceptional Breeding Results from the Mallaburn Hen

The influence of the Mallaburn Hen is further demonstrated through her daughter, which was paired to a pigeon from Barron and Douglas, one of the leading lofts in the UNC.

The resulting performance record is remarkable:

  • 6 × 1st Federation
  • 3 × 2nd Federation
  • 1 × 3rd Federation
  • 2 × 4th Federation
  • 2 × 5th Federation
  • 3 × 6th Federation
  • 1 × 7th Federation
  • 2 × 8th Federation
  • 1 × 9th Federation
  • 2 × 10th Federation
  • 1 × 12th Federation
  • 2 × 14th Federation
  • 2 × 15th Federation
  • 4 × 16th Federation
  • 1 × 17th Federation
  • 2 × 18th Federation
  • 1 x 23rd Federation

Her influence does not stop there. She is also the dam of numerous Section winners and the granddam of a 1st UNC winner.

This is a family with proven performance at multiple levels, combining race-winning ability with outstanding breeding potential.

Quality Beyond the Cooreman Lines

The Herman Custer bloodlines originate from good friend John Jackson. One particularly successful pigeon, a son of Dark Debbie and New Euro, was crossed with a Cooreman pigeon, producing excellent results.

The Gaby Vandenabeele and Koopman influence came through Ian Jemerson of Amble, via a direct daughter of Shadow Boxer, a 1st UNC winner.

More recently, the partnership has introduced pigeons from the Woodruff Brothers, which have already made an impressive start, hitting the ground running during the 2026 Young Bird season.

An Opportunity to Acquire Proven Winning Bloodlines

This draft represents an exciting opportunity to acquire pigeons from a partnership with a long history of racing success and, more importantly, the ability to reproduce that success in the breeding loft.

From the original Louis Cooreman family, producing multiple winners across four generations, to the outstanding Herman Custer, Vandenabeele and Koopman influences, these pigeons combine proven performance with valuable breeding potential.

With the Woodruff Brothers introductions already showing promise in 2026, the future looks equally exciting.

Excelsior Pigeon is proud to present this exceptional draft on behalf of Mallaburn and Murphy — a collection built on winning performances, established bloodlines and generations of proven breeding success.
